Research Summary

The programme studies population ageing from a political science angle. The premise is that population ageing takes effect on the political behaviour of citizens, of the media as well as of the political elite. Generation cleavages possibly emerge and play important parts in the Hungarian and European political processes. Generations may get in conflicts with each other in lobbying, at the distribution of well-fare provisions, in offline and online public spaces.
A couple of the issues to be analysed by the programme:
– The life cycle effects on political attitudes
– Political values and behaviour according to age cohorts
– Different kinds of political knowledge and various procedures as possible ingredients for identification and self-identifications
– Political debates on well-fare state
